Polygamy from an Islamic Perspective

I do encourage polygamy as I am a practicing polygamist

Hi to all, regardless of origin, religion, color or race. I am a Moslem man, I do respect all religions and all kind of sexual life styles, I do encourage polygamy as I am a practicing polygamist, and I would like to shed some light about polygamy in Islam and some glimpse of my personal experience, from my point of view as a practicing not as an Islamic scholarship.

I believes polygamy have been practiced since the beginning of human race on this planet and will continue forever whether openly or secretly legally or illegally, if we imagine the behavior of the first communities of humans before marriage system has been introduced among civilized people, we will find that most men used to have sexual relationships with more than one woman at the same time, as well as women used to have sex with many men at the same time, this has to do with breeding, instinct and masculinity etc. history telling us most prophets married more than one wife, even up to 70 wives like Solomon, David, and Mohammad (PBUT) them all, which means prophets are ideals for the average people at these eras and forever for some extents.

Also women used to practice polyandry widely at some eras in many communities, this have been confirmed in the history in many places in the world specially in Arab peninsula before Islam where women used to marry more than 10 men at the same time, and when she got pregnant she make a toss to assign the baby randomly to one of her men, but these practices have been forbidden as it proved it causes many social problems between men, and leads to fighting, beside it’s difficult to prove who is the real father in case of pregnancy, this is why I don’t want to talk about polyandry, despite that I will respect any women who fancy to practice it, if this will never create any kind of problem to her or the society which she lives in.

As we may know most men used to marry or to have women for sexual relationship whether it’s like harem system or slavery sex like in some African and Asian tribes or due to the power of men in social terms which have been practiced in many ways in Europe, whereas many leaders used to have mistresses, also in America it’s been practiced widely in the era of slavery and among many cults, still many men used to have such practice (more likely than women) now mostly in all over the world but in secret and in different ways. We all knew women are kind of humiliated by men due to these practices

When Judaism, Christianity and Islam came, fight many inhuman practices and try to organize practices of sexual relationship and the abuses by men toward women which has been this way from the beginning of the history and almost in all communities. Instead of man having as much as he could from women as sex slaves or wives, it's been organized and Almighty Allah gave permission to men to have up to 4 wives only (as its stated in Quran) if the man could afford that physically, emotionally and financially. Rules of Islam protects wife’s right in case of any mistreatment of any kind such as unjust from the husband toward some of his wives. In my point of view I believe polygamy is most beneficial for women more than men and it's compatible with the breeding system which is the purpose of our creation by Almighty Allah.

1- Almighty Allah stated in Quran that he created us (all creatures) to be his slaves and to worship him and this is connected in some ways with breeding, its logical if a man sleep with 10 women for 1 year at the same time that its likely all the 10 women may get pregnant, but on the contrary if 10 men sleep with only 1 woman for 1 year she will be pregnant only once.

2- As per Islamic wisdom, polygamy is more beneficial for women, because there will be more opportunities for them to find more good men who are marriage-minded and responsible, in all societies women outnumbers men due to many reasons, also older women have less chances to find good men easily, as most younger men seeks younger women, and most older men who are suitable for those old women are married or even if they are not married they are selfishly looks for younger and more attractive women and this lead to more suffering for those women. In most cases no young man will marry an old lady unless he is attracted to her wealth or some other temporarily reasons, and in most cases if a very young man marry an old woman he will cheat on her, or their relation is destined to fail after short years, it’s very difficult to find a rich young man will marry a poor old ugly woman.

3- For the people who oppose polygamy and use to say: the major motive for men seeking another wife is sex lust, I say this is partially true, but marriage in Islam should not be intended to be temporary and if a man seeks another woman mainly for sex lust only that means he is likely to dump her after some years when the sexual attraction is fading away, and this is not permissible in Islamic marriage. So this means man who like to have another wife he should put in his mind it should be a permanent relationship which will entitle more responsibilities in terms of supporting his all wives whether 1, 2 or more (I don’t mean financially only, because many women may not in need for financial support nowadays) in this case no wise man will accept to take care of more than one burden (1 wife) for the sake of sex pleasure only, unless his motives are greater than just having sex only, which he can have it thru relationships with other women without marriage. This means marriage has a greater meaning for this man, greater than just having more sex only.

4- What is the problem if the man's intention is to stretch a helping hand to another woman who disparately want him to marry her and she is serious and not only intending to cheat with him.

5- I don’t mind if a woman likes to have more than one husband if the society will accept this and as long as it will be legally and openly and goes with faith and religious rules, why not?

6- What is the problem if 2 or more women (up to 4 only in Islam) choose this kind of life style and wanted to be like sisters and more than close friends and live together under one roof?

7- Why people be narrow-minded and deny others' choices when it comes to choose the life style they like, and judge them with awful descriptions, while other kinds of abnormal practices been practiced widely nowadays such as, same sex marriage, swinging, adultery, cheating etc..

8- I think it’s better for a woman to be a 2nd wife legally to have her full legal rights same as the 1st wife than to accept to be a mistress or a secret girlfriend to a married man, who will dump her after he fulfill his sexual desires from her.

9- This is just some ideas based on my personal experience with my 2 lovely wives, who are open-minded, educated, who loves and respects me too much as I do for them, and who loves and respects each other and they enjoy living together under one roof with our 4 young kids, what is the problem in that? If we are mature and we chose to have this life style willingly without any force and for more than 6 years. Above all they have the full right to divorce me as per Islam rules anytime they like.

10- What is the problem if all men and married wives stop the selfishness and accept to try to make another woman happy if there is any? based on the fact that there is more women seeking stable marriage relationship than men in this world, due to the difficulty for divorcee, old, ugly and widow women for having marriage opportunity, which means the number of women will be higher in most societies.

11- When I married my 2nd wife many of my friends here thought this is just a sexual lust, but they are astonished when I proof to them this is more than just sexual lust, as our relationship last for more than 6 years now and we committed to be this way forever.

12- In Islam any deeds or favor (if permissible in Islam) you do it to others you will be rewarded for, including having sex with your wife, or just smile on her face is a reward for both of you if you intend to do it as a worship to Almighty Allah .

13- I will appreciate if anyone would like to criticize, correct me or tell me his point of view I am open to any discussions.

I really love all people and all kind of life styles without any fanatic; this is a call for more love between people regardless of races, religion or color.

Cheers, Jacks
